Dental Implants

Dental Implants are an ideal alternative treatment to edentulous areas or missing teeth.  When a patient is missing one or several teeth or is even completely edentulous ( has no teeth), dental implants are an ideal form of treatment.

Your doctor will take appropriate x-rays and do a comprehensive examination.  When all the necessary information is collected the doctor can review and then present all treatment options.  When the health of the patient is not a concern and there is enough bone present, then we can refer the patient to a surgeon to place the implants in the bone.  The patient then goes through a healing stage wihere the implant osseointegrates with the bone and the tissues heal.

When proper healing is finished, the patient can return to our office where we restore the tooth  (attach a tooth to the implants).  An abutment is made to attach to the implant and a crown is made to attach to the abutment.  All of these are done with accurate molds and are made at our special laboratories.

This type of restoration is an ideal alternative to a removeable appliance.  The implants are placed in bone and therefore the teeth made do not have to be removed daily form the mouth.  It is also an ideal alternative to a fixed bridge since no other teeth need to be prepared (cut down) to retain the bridge.

We will be glad to discuss with you in detail all the treament possibilities that are available to you.
